Duty of Care and its Role in Business

Monday 12 and Tuesday 13 February 2018 (two day seminar)

The Duty of Care and its Role in Business Masterclass at Leicester Castle Business School will help employers gain a better understanding of their duty of care towards health, safety and general welfare of employees. It will allow you to gain clarity on legislation, regulation and policies surrounding the duty of care and better understand the responsibilities of key legal structures and their implications for your organisation.

Through attending this seminar, you will:

  • Understand and be able to implement the relevant changes to your duty of care policies
  • Understand the obligations of employees
  • Develop a knowledge of key legal implications for business including liability

Delivered by: Genevieve Gordon

Genevieve Gordon is a lawyer with a first degree in Business and a Masters in International Sport Law. Her research focuses on the legal issues in equine sports, learning disabilities in sport and the duty of care application within a sporting context. Genevieve has enjoyed a successful career teaching sports law at American and British institutions including Syracuse, Ithaca, Cambridge and Birkbeck where she created their first sport management programme with Sean Hamil and went on to introduce their first sports law module. Genevieve has also worked for organisations including Virgin Atlantic Cargo, British Polo and Major League Baseball in commercial legal roles. She is currently an editorial panel member for LawinSport and author of various articles and commissioned chapters. She also sits on Stoolball England’s board and is a trustee of UKSA and a member of Women in Sports Law.
