The Leicester Castle Business School Professional Skills award recognises the skills and knowledge you have developed during your academic study as well as extra professional activities you have undertaken.
The activities you participate in as part of this award will aim to support your professional development and develop your employability skills. It will also build your level of confidence and motivation to apply for and secure employment after your studies.
The Professional Skills Award is designed to support your development of the skills that are important to employers, the 3 skills we focus on are:
- Creative Problem Solving
Who is eligible for the award?
The award is open to all Leicester Castle Business School postgraduate students.
How to apply for the award
There is no formal application process and all Leicester Castle Business School postgraduate students will be automatically enrolled onto the award.
How to complete the award
To qualify for the award you must complete the 6 steps below (which can be completed in any order):
- Attend the Introduction to Professional Development
- Complete the Knowing and Develop Yourself Module
- Attend Careers Workshop or appointment
- Attend 10 hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
Eg. Business Breakfasts, Visionary Leadership talks, Career/employer events – Graduate Recruitment fair, DMU local/#DMUworks, establish a professional club or network
- Professional Visibility
Eg. Linkedin, Executive Company Project, work.
- Completion of Log Book
You will also be asked to complete videos to reflect on what skills you can offer an employer.
What happens upon completion of the award?
Those who successfully complete the award will be invited to attend an awards ceremony.
